Sometimes you run for a medal, sometimes you PR, and other times…there’s a giant festival at the end with stout pounders. The Seattle St. Patrick’s Day Dash is my FAVORITE! It brings ‘fun run’ to a whole new level, as the city is swept with green joggers, sprinters and everything in between. I dig the creative spirit…(insert awesome new friends below)
With a start and finish at Seattle Center – the 3.1 miles is a fairly easy run with just a few gradual hills. Totally worth the party at the end. Trust me.
This was an inaugural run for my new Brooks PureFlow 5 (btw passed the test) and obviously had to have matching ‘lucky’ socks with my running tribe.
p.s. I personally feel running with friends is a million times better than running alone. I would never go as far without them. So thank you, my dear girlfriends, for keeping me moving. xoxo
Despite recent weather, the storm held off for a few minutes and didn’t start to pour until mid-race – therefore – here’s a few dry pics pre-run.
I actually took a few photos during the run…but they were super blurry – duh. So you’ll just have to imagine downtown Seattle lined with the most fun people running in their green glory.
Post-race we hit up the vendor area (samples!!) and I saw a couple of my favorites (just so you know, these are my friends in real life…Kari (CLIF Bar) and Alona (ZICO)…they help keep my nutrition on point). ♥
It’s good to have friends with the (healthy) inside scoop!
And then we entered the PARTY – The Post Dash Bash, which included live music, giveaways, a costume contest, and the largest St. Patrick’s Day beer garden in the region.
So, yes, sometimes you just run for beer.
…And to support the Detlef Schrempf Foundation which contributes to Northwest children’s charities. ♥
Mark your calendars and join me next year!
