A few weeks ago we packed up the Tahoe and headed to Whistler. Being relatively close – about a 4 hour drive, it’s the perfect distance for road-tripping, especially with the kids.
We stopped halfway at Rogue Kitchen in Vancouver (BC) and had the best family-size nachos – highly recommend!
Back on the road we headed up the infamous Sea to Sky Highway – a breathtaking drive worth every ‘are we there yet.’ :)
Once we arrived in Whistler (about 2 hours from Vancouver), we checked into the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa. It’s located in the heart of Whistler Village, steps away from the chairlifts. As a parent of young kids, this is optimal – those little legs can only walk so far, making where you stay so crucial in how much you can actually do.
After a quick check-in, we had a very gracious welcome waiting in our room…
And for the kiddos ♥
After their ‘welcome treats’ the littles dove into the Hilton Serenity bed :) … we loved this bed ♥
If you’re traveling as a family, I suggest the Whistler Junior Suite, which is 600 sq ft. It fit our family of 4 perfectly, with a king size bed and double pull-out sofa. Another perk – it has a fantastic kitchen equipped with a microwave, cook-top, refrigerator, dishwasher and full cutlery and cookware sets. We had at least one meal in the room every day, making the trip more budget-friendly.
The Suite also included a wood-burning fireplace and balcony overlooking the mountains. The view could not have been better.
After getting settled, the kiddos were begging for some pool time, which happened to be where we spent most of our afternoons, daily. The beauty of visiting Whistler in the Spring is that you can ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon – kind of the best of both worlds.
The Hilton Whistler also has a hot tub, spa, fitness center and sauna (which I took full advantage of).
You don’t have to sacrifice luxury just because you’re traveling with kids! We found the perfect balance between location, comfort, and top-notch hospitality at the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa. I highly recommend utilizing the concierge! After our 5-day stay, we felt like they had become family – providing tips to navigate the village (with kids), to coupons for rentals, and even board games for the room. A hotel can make or break your vacation – so choose wisely. We were extremely thrilled with our experience at the Hilton.
I will also note our favorite breakfast spot was the Cinnamon Bear Bar & Grille located right inside the Hilton. I’ll be highlighting this in my Whistler: Where To Eat post later this week – so stay tuned. :)
