Earlier this month we partnered with Norwegian Airlines for a trip to Europe. The first stop was London, followed by a few days in Dublin.
Norwegian Airlines offers direct Seattle to London flights for as low as $200. So it’s easy to stretch the dollar and allow you to travel more!
Our hotel in Dublin was absolutely perfect for our family of 4. Beautiful, spacious, rich in history and right in the heart of downtown Dublin.
Where To Stay In Dublin
The Castle Hotel is Dublin’s oldest hotel, dating back to 1809. It was renovated in 2009 and just recently added the Harry Clark Mews, an 8 room guest house to their property, which is where we stayed.
The hotel itself has 131 rooms equipped with free wireless internet, climate control, coffee/tea makers and bathrooms fitted with a bathtub, a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.

The Georgian Room
The aesthetic was just as beautiful as the flower-filled patio, with a secret garden ambiance – a welcome respite after a busy day exploring the city.
In the evening, we enjoyed dinner at the other restaurant on property – the Castle Vaults, located beneath the vaulted ceiling of an original 19th Century Wine Vault. The set menu is served daily from 5pm-10pm and also includes a children’s version.
Our favorite part was how close it was to our room – just steps away – and offered amazing LIVE traditional Irish music (also known as Irish trad or Irish folk music) daily, along with traditional Irish dancing (they even brought Addy on the floor to give it a try).
Family-friendly location
The Castle Hotel and the restaurants on property are everything you crave for a family-friendly location – spacious rooms, attentive staff, flexible dining and an overall vibe that welcomes all ages without a second glance. While the kids danced to the Irish fiddle, we sipped on Guinness and all were happy. In fact, instead of feeling like an inconvenience (which can happen when traveling with kids), we were encouraged to participate in the fun.
Now a little about the Harry Clark Mews where we stayed…
Located right behind The Castle Hotel, the one bedroom and studio apartments are perfect if you need a little more room or want to try more of a b & b style. All of the guests of the Mews can enjoy the facilitates of the hotel and have beautiful ensuite amenities like a flatscreen TV and kitchen in a modern aesthetic.
Our apartment had a loft which the girls LOVED and provided space for them to rest in between activities.
A few other reasons we absolutely loved The Castle Hotel property:
- Free baggage storage if you check in early or have a later flight
- On-site parking available if you choose to rent a car
- 1 minute walk to the 747 Airlink airport shuttle (the best way to get to/from the airport)
- 1 minute walk to the Do Dublin Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus (the best way to see the city)
- 10 minute walk to the Hugh Lane Train Station
- 10km from Dublin Airport
- Free outlet converter rentals *pending availability
- 5 minute walk to Henry Street Shopping District
- Short walk to Temple Bar and Croke Park
- Adjacent to the Hugh Lane Art Gallery, Dublin Writers Museum and Garden of Remembrance
I can’t recommend The Castle Hotel enough for providing an amazing stay, fantastic customer service and the warmest welcome to Dublin.
