Of course we love our family adventures, but sometimes it’s nice for Ben and I to enjoy a little weekend respite, just him and I. And with our recent travels I’ve come to recognize the different levels of luggage…the heavy duty suitcase, the carry on, and everything in between. I’ve accumulated quite the collection that I use for our varying trips and so I thought it would be fitting during the holiday season to share my favorite weekend bags – especially if you’re planning a night away for New Years.
The Carry-On
This category encompasses the bag you have on your arm at all times. It most likely contains your wallet, phone, lipgloss, sweater, magazine and MacBook (If you’re anything like me). These bags are perfect to stuff in everything you’ll need for the day, without sacrifycing your #vacationstyle.
The Overnight
This category is for the the rest of your stuff – plenty of room to pack your clothes (& shoes!) for the weekend, without feeling overwhelmed by a giant suitcase.

Le Sud Weekender
As you may have noticed, my favorite weekend travel bags are from Cuyana. I was first introduced to the brand this past year and love their philosophy of ‘fewer, better things.’ They also initiated the Lean Closet movement which was created to give victims of abuse a fresh start in partnership with H.E.A.R.T. By selecting Lean Closet at checkout, they will send you a linen bag to fill with the things that are no longer of use to you. Mail the bag back with the included shipping label, and for every donation you make, you will receive a $10 credit towards your next Cuyana purchase.
If you’re looking for some weekend getaway inspiration, less than 5 minutes from SeaTac Airport, you’ll find Cedarbrook Lodge, a major hidden gem in the Pacific Northwest! It’s a beautiful family-friendly resort with farm to table dining (I toured their gardens), walking trails, luxurious rooms…and a spa that is to die for!! (I recommend the Alaskan Glacial Mud Wrap followed by a Vichy shower – which turns the room into a rainforest ????). Cedarbrook Lodge is the perfect little pre or post-travel respite and a fantastic reason to escape for the night!
Cheers to weekend adventures!
