Ben and I had the opportunity of indulging in a little staycation at The Paramount Hotel Seattle a few weeks ago to celebrate his birthday. We had exactly 24 hours all to ourselves, which included plenty of lounging in the room (I recommend their corner suite), along with a few bites, cocktails and leisurely walks throughout Capitol Hill, Downtown and Pike Place Market.
Ben and I are super specific with our priorities – raising strong, confident and adventurous daughters, living close to family, traveling both together and with our daughters (each solely important), enjoying as much time on the water as possible and, of course, being really passionate about our work. I’m grateful for my husband who supports my journey and for dreaming big with me…so this weekend we celebrated. Our past, present and future.
In one of our favorite cities…Seattle.
First, I’ll preface, we truly enjoyed the location of The Paramount Hotel – in the heart of downtown, with shopping, theaters and restaurants just steps away..and of course the famous Pike Place Market (which I still love to visit, even as a local).
We decided to venture up to Capitol Hill after we checked in, which was only a $7 Uber ride (however, you can definitely walk there).
We shopped a bit (notice the new Ollie Quinn sunnies) and chased murals…kind of my favorite thing to do in the city. There are so many!
And even though Ben is much more of a country boy…I think we found his #InstagramWall…
By the way, did you know there are 11 rainbow crosswalks in the Capitol Hill neighborhood? They represent “a place where we are tolerant and accepting.” Another reason to love the Emerald City.
One of our favorite foodie spots just discovered on this trip was Lowell’s Restaurant in Pike Place Market, which has actually been around for over 100 years, starting out as a coffee and peanut roaster. Today the restaurant consists of 3 floors with a waterfront view of the Olympic Mountains and crossing ferries, along with a fresh PNW-inspired menu. Open daily at 7am, we enjoyed Brunch (which I highly recommend)!
We also discovered this gorgeous wall on 8th and Olive…
Back at The Paramount Hotel, we couldn’t help but notice the little details that distinguish the property from any other ordinary accommodation. A medley of fashion, travel and lifestyle draped in jewel tones (notice the purple, gold and navy in the second photo below)…it feels warm, modern and completely unique.
The Paramount Hotel has perfected the balance of simplistic luxury, providing generous service, alongside immaculate accommodations in the middle of a busy city. My advice is to book a room, leave your car with the valet and spend 24 hours exploring the street art, enjoying as much food as possible (so many good options), and most of all, using the room as a weekend respite. I’m a big believer in rest…when’s the last time you had a break?
Cheers to a beautiful week full of planning your next adventure…
