In lieu of Black Friday this week, I am sharing some of my favorite gift ideas, and my first pick is the most important – it’s the gift of wellness. Well, all of my picks are important (obviously), but the gift of helping someone feel healthy, fit and plain old happy ranks pretty high, don’t you think? Even if that person is yourself. ♥
So my #1 gift idea for this week is For U Fitness. They offer specialized personal training that will come to you! Literally – your house at 5:00am, your work at 12pm, or the park after you drop the kids off at school! You pick the location, and a certified trainer shows up with all the gear – bosu ball, weights, resistance bands, you name it – they got it. Genius, right?
I had the opportunity of sampling the program with Stephani Earling, For U Fitness head trainer. I picked a park close to my house and met up with her one chilly morning last week. I showed up and she had everything set up and ready to go. Typically the first session includes a consult with fitness and health history, but we discussed over the phone instead and jumped right into the workout. And when I say ‘jump’ I wasn’t kidding, she led me through a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout that left me breathless and sweaty (despite the frosty forecast, the sweatshirt only lasted a few minutes!). Stephani made sure we hit every muscle group – arms, abs, legs and butt (which are STILL sore several days later).
And of course we ended with a good stretch. Stephani also has a yoga background, which I love, allowing for more versatility in the fit sequence.
The beauty of For U Fitness is that they taylor the workout to your level. Haven’t got your heart rate up in a while? No problem. The trainers are fantastic at setting the tone at the pace you feel comfortable with. Plus, since you pick the location – such as the privacy of your own home or favorite park, you release that fear of intimidation and comparison with other gym-goers. It’s a great alternative if joining a fitness club just doesn’t suit your lifestyle or you literally need someone knocking at your door at sunrise to get your body moving (trust me, I get it).
In addition to being the most convenient workout, I’m obsessed with the price – it’s only $49.27 (tax included) for an hour of personal training. This is extremely competitive, especially since they bring everything to you.
I’ll break everything down for you further…
