Life is busier than ever, and to stay on top of my #momgame I needed to call in for back up. I honestly cannot do it all. The kids, the house, the dog, work…and meal prep? Something’s gotta give. And dinner is my pitfall. I struggle coming up with creative dishes the whole family will love (especially since cooking is definitely not my forte). So thank goodness for Sun Basket, the leading meal kit service that takes care of everything but the very final steps. That is my kind of cooking.
Fortunately for us, they just launched the Healthy Family Menu which is designed to feed a family of four using fresh, sustainably sourced ingredients. You can also choose Paleo-Friendly options which include lean meats, vegetables, free of soy, dairy and gluten.
In addition to Paleo, they offer Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, Lean & Clean, Rise & Shine & Chef’s Choice meal plans. There really is something for everyone – the common ground is that it’s healthy and easy to make!
One of my favorite recipes from our Sun Basket box was the Pasta alla Norma with eggplant and fresh ricotta. Most of the meals are priced at about $9.99/person and are super easy to assemble. Gives you a chance to skip the grocery store, quickly assemble a meal with your littles and know you’re serving up really good food.
The weekly Sun Basket delivery arrives with all the ingredients perfectly portioned with coordinating recipes in an insulated box. Each recipe takes about 30 minutes from start to finish and tastes like you worked in the kitchen all day.
Since I believe the story behind a brand is just as important as the product, I thought I’d share a little background on Sun Basket. Founded in 2014 in San Francisco by Adam Zbar and Justine Kelly, the mission was to innovate a healthy cooking service that would create a positive impact on families. Something Chef Kelly could relate to since she was a mom herself and understood the stress behind weeknight cooking.
Something also to note – the Healthy Family Menu was actually co-founded with Food Network’s Chef Tyler Florence. With tons of press and huge support in the culinary industry, it’s definitely received the noted validation.
Another reason to love Sun Basket is their commitment to sustainable farming and the relationships they’ve built with local ranchers, farmers and fisherman. Farm-to-table at its best. You can read more about the suppliers they work with HERE, as they proudly share their stories on their website.
My own personal opinion – I highly recommend trying Sun Basket’s weekly delivery service – it has a been a great decision for our family – saving time, filling our tummies and giving us an excuse to gather around the table. Plus they have kid-friendly activities with each recipe like ‘shuck the corn’ or ‘stir the coleslaw’ to get even little hands involved! #FamiliesThatCookTogether
Have you tried a meal delivery service? From this week’s menu, which recipe would you choose?
Cheers!
