To say my fitness calendar has been full is an understatement. If you’ve been following my blog adventures these past few months, you have noticed my experimentation with Aerial Yoga, PiYo, Barre, MixxedFit, and even Pole Fitness. So when I had the opportunity to take a breath and try Strala Yoga it just felt right…my body desperately needed a meditative fix.
I first heard about Strala Seattle, a brilliant studio tucked in the warehouse district off Elliott Avenue in Seattle, via ClassPass. They announced another Fitness Night Out, Strala being the hosted location, partnering with Lorna Jane, KeVita, Zico & Seattle Salads. It was like a mini health/fitness/fashion fair…my obsession trifecta ♥ so you know I was there in a heartbeat!
You may think this is just about another yoga class…nope…Strala is a revolutionary practice, developed by Tara Stiles (one of the most influential yogis of all time & Deepak Chopra’s personal instructor). Strala is known to leave you with a “great feeling of expansion, freedom, strength, and radiance from the inside out.” (StralaSeattle.com)
It’s actually really hard for me to explain the feeling I had post-class. If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be happy. It was an energizing practice that made me feel strong, confident and at peace…not defeated as some yoga classes can make you feel. Every single person in the class went at their own pace, in fact their core philosophy is “who made the rules?” The amazing instructor, Sue, guided everyone through the class with pose triggers, however, there were moments when one person was doing a headstand (!!!) and others doing child’s pose. In Sue’s words, “do what feels right.” Well, my friend and I were totally feeling the Strala vibe and were excited to master Crow Pose…a first for me!
Besides being an incredibly unique practice, Strala Seattle is a family run operation and it just beams with love. The mother-daughter duo who own the studio are just so lovely. Their kind, welcoming nature made me literally want to be a part of their family. We also had the opportunity to meet a few other folks on the Strala team (also family), and they were just as wonderful!
Strala has a range of classes including Strong, Relaxed, Gentle, Core, Basics, & Energize – each with their own flow intention, bringing awareness and strength to your body, mind and spirit.
I highly encourage you to try this uplifting practice – just once and you’ll be hooked. And the best part, they are on the ClassPass network! If you have not yet signed up with ClassPass…check out why I’m obsessed here.
You can also try Strala Seattle via one of their flexible membership options, including their New Student Special – $20 for 1 Week.
Peace, Love & Strala ♥
