Now is the time to stand out – embrace and celebrate who you are. As women, we can often be quiet, passive and behind the scenes. We all know who runs the show – every show – and it’s a woman. She is the wife, mother, girl boss, planner, producer, lover and friend. She keeps the wheels turning, the passion alive and the motivation to be better, be stronger, be everything. So she should stand out. She should be noticed – YOU should be noticed. You are beautiful – you are kind – you are brilliant and deserve to be celebrated every.single.day.
And one of the best vehicles to feeling empowered and confident is through your style. This season, floral is back in a BIG way and it’s the perfect opportunity to showcase your gorgeous self. A bold print shows others YOU are bold – you are powerful – you’ve got this.
Two MAJOR girl bosses I am infatuated with are Malika Siddiq – owner of Seattle-based Lika Love (where the dress is from) and Kirsty Papadopulos – owner of Seattle-based Lucia K. Jewelry (where the gold earrings are from). Both of these bad ass women built strong brands representing their passion, their craft, their love. And they are integral parts of the Seattle style (and beyond) community. I am a firm believer in SHOP LOCAL and encourage you to check out their collections. Women supporting women is a necessary and valued tool in this incredible fierce female society we have happening. You know that saying ‘find your tribe and love them hard.’ Well – we are ALL in a tribe…so let the love flow…
A great example of how powerful women can be when encouraging others:
During this photoshoot I was nervous, working with a new photographer (who I LOVE btw), and trying to be ‘cool’ while in the middle of a Seattle street…it seems easy, but doesn’t quite come natural for me. Of course the photographer, Jenna, and my friend, Megan, who did the styling were swooning me with compliments (bless those two!), but a random girl came out of the apartment complex nearby and shouted that I looked beautiful – she said she loved my dress, my hair, the whole look! We had never met, and I will probably never see her again, yet a complete stranger eased my mind and granted me the courage to keep smiling and feel confident. Another reminder to stand out my friends – it can be pretty fantastic (despite your fears!).
I hope you enjoyed this post and are ready to take on the week feeling strong, beautiful and ready to stand out!
I would LOVE to know – what do you wear when you want to stand out?
