The magic of childhood continues – this week my girl’s met the Easter Bunny – their eyes lit up and they giggled. They couldn’t believe they were in the actual presence of the Easter Bunny – the master behind the baskets, the eggs and the trail of jelly beans. And he wore glasses which had my 4 year old smitten (because she also has some pretty cool specs). After a few high-fives with the bunny himself, I was able to get a photo marking this sweet, curious age when they truly believed.
In today’s post I’m sharing How To Master Easter Bunny Photos, because in all honesty, it takes a little planning and whole lot of flexibility (since you’re dealing with littles).
Location
Let’s be real, not all bunnies are the same – so to make the experience extra special for your kids, make sure you’re taking them to a well-reviewed place that offers great photos and a touch of whimsy. If you’re local, I highly recommend the Easter Bunny at Northgate Mall. Located right near the Ben Bridge Court, it’s a darling setup complete with a carrot throne and a bunny that can’t help but make you smile! While the kids wait, they offer a play area and coloring station, and following their photos, they go home with a special treat. My favorite part was how engaged the bunny was with the kiddos even while they waited in line – it definitely warmed up the younger ones.
Outfit
Dressing up for the Easter Bunny was one of my favorite memories as a child – it’s part of the magic in feeling really special. And the best part – you get to wear your new outfit again on Easter! So my advice is to take the kids on a quick shopping trip where you know you can find everything you need – a dress, sweater, shoes, etc. – find a one-stop shop that you can make swiftly and efficiently. And let the kids be involved – give them a few choices, and get them excited for their photos with the Easter Bunny. I actually planned our shopping trip right before the photos. One of our favorite stores is The Children’s Place in Northgate Mall (everything was 50% off!). The girl’s picked a dress, jean jacket and new sandals and we were done in less than 30 minutes. A quick change and off to photos! If you’re local, I also recommend these stores at Northgate Mall for Easter outfits: Gymboree, Crazy 8, Macy’s, Nordstrom & Old Navy.
Incentive
Regardless of the age, some kiddos need a little encouragement to take a photo. Of course they want to meet the Easter Bunny, but capturing a photo is not always on the top of their list. Maybe throw in an incentive – like a family movie night, or a scoop of their favorite ice cream when they’re all done! This is a no judgment zone, and if you’re anything like me, we negotiate and compromise daily. Sometimes it’s the little things that make everything easier.
Flexibility
Alright moms, we all have that kid that absolutely refuses to take a photo. And you know what? That’s okay! My youngest daughter was ecstatic to meet the Easter Bunny and was all smiles, until she had to be in front of the camera. It made her nervous, and so she stood by me while my 6 year old went on ahead and sat on his lap. The point is to be flexible, and to know it’s not going to be perfect every time. Who wants perfect anyway? But by bringing them every year, they’ll still get the experience – and maybe next year she’ll be in the photo too because she’ll remember what a fun day this was.
I recommend getting the CD with a digital image so you can share on social media AND at least a few wallets. My daughter was so excited to share them with her friends (again – made the day special!).
