Low-Maintenance Plant Guide
Opt For Low-Maintenance Plants
First and foremost, if you’re a newbie, the easiest way to ensure your plants thrive is to opt for low maintenance varieties. Herbs tend to be pretty hardy, requiring only basic care.
Bonnie Plants, available for pickup at Walmart, or at BonniePlants.com, have an assortment of easy to grow herbs like Rosemary, Lemon Thyme and Greek Oregano, which not only offer edible and aromatic benefits, but also purify the air.
Feed Your Plants With Miracle-Gro
Supplement your plants with Miracle-Gro Water Soluble All Purpose Plant Food, also available at Walmart, for better growth and glowing greens. The formula is safe for all plants including vegetables, herbs, trees, shrubs and houseplants. And a little goes a long way – mix with water every two weeks – based on label directions. It’s like a vitamin for your plant babies!

Use A Self-Watering Planter
Self-watering planters typically have built-in reservoirs that will quench your plant for up to 2 weeks. Built-in ventilation systems stimulate how a plant would grow naturally in the ground.
Optimize Indoor Temperatures
An ideal thermostat for indoor plants is 65 degrees F, while ensuring it never drops below 55 degrees F. If the temperature dips too much, plants can develop leaf mold.
Move Plants Away From Direct Heat
While it’s important to keep your plants warm…the key is not too warm. Make sure to keep plants away from heating vents or intense direct sunlight..
Turn Ceiling Fan On Low
If you leave your ceiling fan on low it helps circulate stale air, helping your plants breathe!
Group Moisture-Loving Plants Together
When you keep moisture-loving and tropical plants together they’ll retain moisture and stay warm. Doesn’t this make you love plants even more?!
Keep Plants In An Indoor Greenhouse
Walmart also has a variety of indoor and outdoor greenhouses, providing optimal thermal insulation, year-round.
