In the Smith family we are always up for an adventure, whether that means hopping a plane to Victoria, skiing Whistler Blackcomb or…joining a rock band?! Yep, you read that right…thanks to School of Rock my girl’s are sharpening their love and talent for music, but in a very non-conventional way!
We had the opportunity of checking out the brand new School of Rock studio in Lynnwood, WA!
School of Rock Lynnwood has the best combination of instructors, instruments, and captivating programs to get your violin for kids, student strumming, drumming, playing, or singing their way to rockstar status.
At School of Rock Lynnwood, we believe as much in the power of the band as we do in the thrill of a killer solo act. We bring our kids and the community of Lynnwood together to create excellent performers who learn from cool, real life experiences in the world of music. Our performance-based approach amps up our students for serious fun and serious success.
Music in a team-based environment is today’s gateway to education, confidence, fun, friendship, and so much more. Visit School of Rock Lynnwood today.

Adalyn (6) and Mila (4) joined a few other students of similar age for an intro class led by Zeke Trosper, who has over 20 years of professional touring and recording experience as a guitar player, bass player, and vocalist. ln addition, Zeke has over 7 years of teaching and directing experience at School of Rock.
The class began with an overview of rules and etiquette (i.e. be kind to one another, keep hands to yourself, etc.), followed by beginner note fundamentals. Then they had the opportunity to jam as a group using simple instruments like a cowbell and drum. Their song of choice – “We Will Rock You.” If you followed along on Insta Stories, you saw how fun it was for the kiddos and so cute to watch!
A little more about the Rookies Program:
School of Rock Lynnwood’s Rookies Program is designed for first and second graders to provide a fun introduction to music fundamentals. Among other tools, we use proprietary setups for guitar, bass, drums and keyboard to provide a gateway to understanding music. The skills and passion for music that we teach our students gets them ready for Rock 101 and a lasting appreciation for music.
Our Lynnwood Rookies learn the fundamental concepts of pitch, rhythm, form and dynamics with age-appropriate exercises, tools and games. We encourage our students to explore a variety of instruments and play styles so they can get familiar with all parts of the musical landscape; even the most incredible solo guitar players or drummers need to understand how the rest of the band works together.
All students in Lynnwood’s Rookies Program can expect:
• Weekly group lessons using guitar, bass, keyboard and drums
• Exposure to essential fundamentals like music theory, pitch and rhythm
• A focus on teamwork and collaboration
• An understanding of what it means to play solo and in a group
• Fun combined with practical learning!

With limited school budgets in music education, it’s so important that we continue to encourage our youth to pursue interests in the arts. I admire School of Rock for engaging today’s kids and bringing awareness to the importance of music.
For my local friends, the School of Rock Lynnwood location is only 20 minutes North of Seattle, right off the 196th St. exit. I encourage you to check them out, for either your kids or yourself, since they have opportunities for all ages! Live a little and be a rockstar for a day, a month or the rest of your life!
