Invisalign is an amazing alternative to traditional metal braces to correct malocclusion (imperfect positioning of the teeth) and enhance aesthetics. 10 weeks ago my husband began an Invisalign treatment with Dr. Oleg, founder of 425 Dental in Issaquah, Washington. In this post I’ll be sharing an honest Invisalign Review, including our initial thoughts of the Invisalign process, along with a detailed breakdown of the cost, length of treatment and how to determine if you’re a good candidate!

What is Invisalign?

How Much Does it Cost?

There are many factors that determine the cost of your Invisalign treatment: how extensive the issues are that you want corrected, how long your treatment plan will last, and the specific treatment details prescribed by Dr. Oleg

425 Dental offers in-house payment plans with no finance charges for up to a year. Longer payment plans available with minimal finance fees.

If your dental insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you may also qualify for Invisalign. Talk to your insurance provider to determine the extent of coverage for your treatment.

You can also use the pre-tax dollars in your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) toward Invisalign treatment.

How Long Do You Have To Wear Invisalign?

Treatment at 425 Dental takes an average of 6 months, though that will vary from case to case. What Happens After the Invisalign Treatment?

When treatment is completed, Dr. Oleg, Dr. Nikole or Dr. Sakai will discuss different options of retaining the corrected tooth position with the patients. Options include clear trays that can be worn at night or a retention device that can be attached to the back of the lower teeth. Retention is very important once any orthodontic treatment is done, as teeth have a tendency to move back to their original position.

Do You Wear the Invisalign Trays All Day?

Dr. Oleg recommends you wear the Invisalign trays 22 hours a day. You can can eat, drink and sleep in them.

Are There Things To Avoid with Invisalign?

During the Invisalign treatment avoid gum, curry, turmeric and cigars to prevent discoloration of your trays. Coffee and wine are okay! Regardless, it’s always important to brush your teeth and liners after eating. And remember teeth whitening is included with all Invisalign treatments at 425 Dental.

How Do You Clean the Invisalign Trays?

You’ll rinse your aligners every night and brush them gently with your toothbrush to keep them fresh and clean. Invisalign also has a cleaning system to keep your aligners clear which includes special cleaning crystals that remove plaque in as little as 15 minutes. The cleaning system contains a cleaning tub + 50 packets of cleaning crystals.

425 Dental also includes a slim Invisalign case with their treatment protocol, keeping your aligner safe and clean when not in use.

Is Invisalign Painful?

You’ll notice sensitivity for the first 4-7 days, which will quickly taper off. You can take Tylenol if needed.

Invisalign treatment moves your teeth by applying gentle, constant force which can be described as feeling “pressure.” This means your Invisalign aligners are working! If discomfort persists, discuss with your doctor.

Personal Review

My husband had his consult with Dr. Oleg 10 weeks ago which confirmed he was a candidate due to malocclusion and gum recession. He was fitted for the Invisalign trays in-office and returned 4 weeks later to begin the treatment. He is scheduled to return every 6 weeks to monitor the progress and pick up the next set of trays.

From his perspective, the only routine adjustment was ensuring he brushed after every meal (even while at work), but after the first week, it felt like second-nature. He’s had only mild discomfort the first couple of days when transitioning to new trays, and finds it to be WAY more manageable than dealing with metal braces as a kid.
