Yes, it’s actually possible to maintain and even LOSE weight while traveling and its easier when you learn about these fat burners and how to use them. In this post I’ll share my personal tips on mindful nutrition, intentional movement and balance, without sacrificing the experience.
How To Lose Weight While Traveling
Get Your Lifestyle In Check Before You Leave
First and foremost, your pre-departure lifestyle sets the tone for your trip. Plain and simple, if you feel good before you leave, you’re going to want to maintain that.
Nutrition experts can be incredibly valuable in setting appropriate guidelines and increasing your odds for weight loss success. I personally use Ideal Wellness, which offers a supervised and structured meal plan that assists your body to achieve a fat burning mode. Essentially, it’s a managed ketogenic program where they provide specific food choices to make it easier to lose body fat.
Pack Healthy Snacks
Ideal Wellness has over 80 single-serving Ideal Protein foods that are perfect for travel. Let’s be real, there’s going to be meals you cannot control. Not to mention plentiful carbs, overflowing wine and endless gelato (can you tell I just returned from Italy?). But do what you can – when you can. Regardless of where I am, I always start the day with an Ideal Protein chocolate shake, which has 18 grams of protein. It fills me up, so I can enjoy food later in moderation…and not over indulge. Honestly, it gives me a sense of accomplishment – like I did a good nutritional deed for myself – you know?

I also have an Ideal Protein bar in my carry on and crossbody purse at all times. This is a non-negotiable. While I will definitely enjoy the local flavors, I will do it with intention – not out of ridiculous hunger or convenience.
Practice Moderation
When you’re served multiple courses, especially in a small family-run restaurant, you want to eat LITERALLY everything. Like lick-your-plate-clean style. I mean have you ever tasted anything so amazing? Probably not. But still, I’m going to need you to hold back…just a bit. Speaking from experience – when you go beyond the simple joys of tasting a dish, to uncomfortable inhaling, it’s not fun anymore. Remember to take a bite, pause and enjoy. And TRY to fill up on fresh fruits and vegetables – with an emphasis on the vegetables. Remember our goal is to gain culture, not gain weight.
Alternate Splurge Meals
If possible, try to plan just one splurge meal each day…versus 3. Like I said, I start with an Ideal Wellness Chocolate Shake, versus a heavy breakfast, followed by a heavy lunch and then again a heavy dinner. Eating healthy is important, but you can still treat yo’ self, just space it out and try these fat burners to give a boost to your weight loss program.
Limit Alcohol
If you really want to lose weight while traveling, you’ll need to be super mindful about your alcohol consumption. Like wine tasting involves a taste, not a glass per grape. Plus who wants to be hungover on vacation?! Again, let’s savor vs. over indulge.
With that said, this doesn’t mean you have to pass on every limoncello or margarita…just drink with intention. Ask for a spritz or à la piscine which basically means ice in your champagne or wine (essentially to keep cold, but I lean towards the hydration benefit). And make sure you drink a ridiculous amount of water before, during and after any cocktails. And eat for heaven’s sake.
*Ideal Wellness does not recommend alcohol for Phase 1 – so to achieve maximum weight loss results, I would refrain entirely.
Add Fiber
I cannot stress this enough. If you’re not already a fiber advocate – you need to sign up. This simple addition to your daily routine can really make a difference. The Benefiber single serve powder sticks are super convenient, and when taken 2-3 times per day, can help you stay regular (READ: not-bloated, comfortable, light).
Add Green Powder
An organic green powder will also help with digestion and guarantee essential weight-loss boosting nutrients. Hands down, the best on the market is Organifi Green Juice. I love the brand so much I even asked for a promo code specifically for this post – just enter OBSESSED at checkout to receive 15% of your first purchase.
Enjoy A Detox Tea In The Evenings
In addition to fiber and a green powder, I like to bring along a box of Detox Tea to help move things along if necessary. Travel can be intense on your intestinal track, especially when adapting to a new cuisine. It’s better to have it on hand, than sit in discomfort. I’ll usually have a cup before bed.
Plan Non-Food Related Activities
Food can definitely dictate a trip – especially with so many Instagram-worthy spots! Who doesn’t want a shot of that triple layer-unicorn-cookie dough-milk shake?! I know, I know – it’s so fun and so ON TREND right now. But if you really want to lose weight, get creative with your itinerary. Take a hike, check out the local art museum, sign up for a walking tour, or go BIG and do a hot air balloon ride. There’s plenty to do in every city that does not involve food. Just Google “things to do in …” and I guarantee a top ten list (or several) will pop up.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
One of the major keys to hitting your fitness goals while traveling is to move as much as possible, every single day. Which means comfort is king. As I mentioned in my Packing List Amalfi Coast, heels are seriously not necessary, between the cobblestone streets, hundreds of steps, and walking villages….it just doesn’t make sense. Soft, comfortable shoes (like Allbirds or Brooks) allow you to walk more…and burn calories!
Find Opportunities to Move
If you have the opportunity to explore a new city by foot, definitely take advantage of the steps! If not, consider a quick 30-60 minute workout in your hotel room or Airbnb before you start the day. I also like to check out local fitness classes, allowing me to sweat and meet new people! This could be a great option for business travelers who are often solo in a new city.

Get Back On Track When You Return Home
First of all, give yourself grace when returning home. There will be a period of time that feels rough…whether it’s jet lag, lack of sleep, or the stress of ‘real life’ responsibilities, and it can be difficult to navigate, especially in your diet. Try and focus on healthy eating and realigning your routine.
In a few days your energy levels will be back to normal and you can continue working on your long term health and fitness goals.
I hope these tips on how to lose weight while traveling inspire you to look and feel your best, even on vacation. Whether you want to lose weight, maintain or just feel good on vacation, know that it is possible without sacrificing an incredible experience.
