When you’re on a diet, detox, menu plan, etc., heading to a party seems slightly terrifying. Worried about what you’re going to eat, how much of it, and the idea of getting off track can make a girl insane. So, often we end up staying home. But – girl, I’m telling you – get out there, live a little and feed your social soul. Opting to bring something to the party is always a good idea, not only because it’s polite, but it also gives you some control over your options – the more healthy food in front of you – the less likely you’ll eat a dozen cupcakes. But, with that said, if you want a cupcake – have a cupcake! Otherwise you may eat an entire bag of chocolate chips when you get home – just sayin’. Modify and moderate. :)
So a few weeks ago, my sister, sister-in-law and best friend escaped to our beach house on Camano Island. I’m in the middle of the Tone It Up Bikini Series so I wanted to stay on track for the most part. So, here’s what I brought…
Prosecco
And here’s why…
The relatively low number of calories in Prosecco make it one of the more diet-friendly alcoholic drinks. One glass of Prosecco contains around 80 calories, making it much less calorific than a large glass of red, or a vodka and coke, which come in at 220 and 120 calories (ish – depending on size) respectively. – Prosecco Club
I LOVE sparkling wine, besides the fact it makes a completely appropriate drink anytime of day (Mimosas!), it’s mild and not overly sweet. And to rank on the lower end with calories makes it my #1 choice to bring to parties or girls’ night in, as I did.
My top Prosecco pick is Barefoot Bubbly!
…A crisp and inviting Italian sparkling wine. Its vibrant pear, apple and peach flavors dance through delicate bubbles, ending with a zesty lemon finish.
Available at most grocery stores – Barefoot Wine & Bubbly has a great selection in every wine category (at a super reasonable price!)
And if you’d like to turn it into a cocktail without the added sugars, I recommend a splash of coconut water, squeeze of lime, topped off with a little organic juice. Garnish with pineapple. ♥
I prefer ZICO Coconut Water (Original or Pineapple) & Santa Cruz Organic Agua Fresca in Mango Passionfruit.

This was a recent Snap :) Find me @obsessedportia!
So we have the drinks covered! {Note: For those under 21 or guests that prefer no alcohol, you can still make the tropical cocktail – just leave out the Prosecco).
{Healthy} Chips
A fruit and veggie tray is the obvious healthy party snack, but sometimes you just want CHIPS! Hold the phone, put down the Doritos…and grab a bag of these instead.
My family is obsessed with Bean & Rice Chips by Beanfields. Here’s why they are WAY better than a greasy potato chip…
One serving of Beanfields Sea Salt chips gives you 150 percent more protein, 200 percent more fiber and 36 percent less fat than typical tortilla chips.* Beanfields Chips are vegan, certified gluten free and Non-GMO Project Verified. Plus, Beanfields proudly makes every flavor of chip without corn or any of the eight ingredients recognized by the FDA as the top food allergens.
So you’re pretty much doing your body a favor by eating these. :)
They’re available in 10 flavor varieties – with Sea Salt, Barbecue & Pico de Gallo being my favorites. Honestly, they taste great right out of the bag – but if guacamole is nearby – I’m gonna dip. :)
You can find them at most health food stores (Mine are from Haggen’s).
I hope this gives you some inspo for your next Girls’ Night In! Because, let’s be real – the women in our life are everything – and spending time with them fuels our passions, feeds our souls and makes us all better wives, moms, members of society, etc.
I’m thankful for my girls!
