We’re on a bit of a travel hiatus with just a few short weekend getaways here and there, which means a little extra time to savor the comforts of home. Since we’re in the rainy season here in the Northwest and it feels incredibly dark and dreary, I tend to find baking to be a welcome respite and cozy companion to the copious amounts of coffee I consume this time of year. I tend to lean towards gluten-free recipes and am obsessed with my new donut pan – so today I thought I would share a super easy recipe: Gluten-Free Baked Donuts with vanilla glaze and sprinkles, made with Planet Oat Oatmilk!

Gluten-Free Baked Donuts
Why Gluten-Free?
Gluten is a type of protein found in wheat, rye and barley, acting as a glue to help foods maintain their shape. It’s often a main ingredient in bread, cereal and baked goods. For those with a gluten allergy or intolerance, obviously it’s wise to limit or remove gluten from your diet entirely. But (not so) surprisingly, there’s a myriad of health benefits for the rest of us, as well:
- Improves cholesterol levels
- Promotes digestive health
- Increases energy levels
- Eliminates unhealthy and processed foods from your diet (oils, fried food, breads, and desserts to name a few) (2)
- More likely to eat fruits and vegetables because they are all gluten-free
- Reduces your risk of heart disease, certain cancers, and diabetes
- Helps ward off viruses and germs as many foods you will now eat will contain more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals (3)
- Promotes healthy weight-loss
- Improves health of people with irritable bowl syndrome and arthritis
- Distinctly improved awareness of foods that can have an adverse effect on your health

With that said, I prefer to provide my family with gluten-free options most of the time!

Why Oatmilk?
As I mentioned I make these Gluten-Free Baked Donuts with Planet Oat Oatmilk, my favorite plant-based milk alternative. It’s super creamy, slightly sweet and free from dairy, peanuts, soy and gluten. In addition, it contains 2 grams of protein and soluble fiber per serving.
Similar to gluten, dairy can be difficult to digest even if you don’t have an intolerance or allergy. But personally, I prefer the taste of plant-based milk alternatives like Planet Oat Oatmilk over regular dairy milk any day.
For those of you new to the Oatmilk trend – here’s what it is exactly: Planet Oat starts with oats and water. Enzymes are added to the blend in order to break down some of the oat starch, giving the oatmilk a creamy texture and light sweetness. The excess solids are then strained out and then oats are blended with vitamins, minerals, flavors and other ingredients to create a smooth, delicious beverage.
Planet Oat Oatmilk is vegan and available in four flavors: Original, Extra Creamy, Vanilla and Dark Chocolate. For the Gluten-Free Baked Donuts recipe I use Orginal Planet Oat Oatmilk, but Extra Creamy or Vanilla would also be amazing!

Recipe Tips
This Gluten-Free Baked Donuts recipe is super easy and will take you less than 30 minutes from start to finish. In fact, it only calls for a few ingredients, that you can find at nearly any grocery store or even on Amazon Fresh! Planet Oat is available nationwide, as well, at Kroger, Shaw’s, Amazon Fresh, and other major retailers. A few key items I found to be helpful are a donut pan and rimmed baking sheet (for when you sprinkle!). You can find them both on Amazon.
