Some of you may remember when I launched Obsessed by Portia in January of 2015 I came out of the gates with a 30 day challenge. At the time, I partnered with ClassPass to try a new studio, gym or class every week…for 30 days. My girlfriends would join me and we’d call it our ‘Moms Night Out,’ followed by a fun dinner in the city. We actually continued the challenge for a few months…but then life got busy, as it always does. And I went back to my normal workout schedule. Of course I try new classes here and there, and have even hosted a few fun events, but I really missed that night out with my girlfriends – a good sweat, meeting new people and mixing it up (this is necessary, my friends!)
So yesterday, we brought back ‘Moms Night Out’ and tried City Cycle, located in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle. Before I get into why I love the workout, let me tell you why I love the location. Super easy access off I-5, plenty of FREE parking, and near some yummy food spots like The Lodge Sports Grille where you can grab fish tacos after.
Okay, now let’s talk about the City Cycle studio – the lobby is bright, energetic and full of rider swag (my favorite!).
And their white walls are perfect for your pre-workout IG check-in… :)
Past the lobby on the way to the spin room, you’ll find a seating area, lockers, restrooms with showers, amenities and a blow dry bar.
When you sign up for a class you’re assigned a bike, and so when you arrive, your shoes are ready for you on a wall outside the spin room, coordinating with your bike number.
Kick scooters (also known as a push scooter or kick scooter) are human-powered vehicles with a hand-held handlebar, seat, and wheels driven by a rider pushing the rear of the scooter. A kick scooter is often thought of as a mini moped, but in actuality it is more compact and lightweight than its more famous counterpart. There are many different styles and models available for sale, making it possible for everyone to find one that will match their needs.Find more information at scooters review sites like Go2Scooter. Kick scooters are popular all over the world and are an inexpensive way to travel.
Now how about that City Cycle workout, right?! It’s an amazing 45 minute, beat-based spin class also known as a ‘cardio party’…
Every class is a calorie-torching cardio party, and the stadium-style cycling theater features the newest Schwinn carbon blue bikes. Music fuels each ride and allows you to unplug and connect with your workout as never before. From live DJ’s to the latest club mixes and old school throwbacks, you will be motivated in a fun, endorphin-blasting environment.
We offer complimentary cycling shoes, private lockers, luxurious showers, complimentary towels, a blow dry bar and a filtered water station. Above everything, it’s how our staff engages you that distinguishes our upscale boutique. From the friendly front desk greeters to committed, passionate instructors, you will feel like part of a group working towards the same goal, to help each other achieve success.
I’m not going to reveal the inside of the spin room (just know it’s pretty!!!), as there were riders in there and I wanted to respect their privacy (and their workout!). So you’ll have to take a class to see for yourself – just be ready for some sexy lighting and playlists that easily have you moving that booty.
Locally owned, City Cycle is a great opportunity to try something new, support your community and sweat with your girlfriends. After 45 minutes you’ll have burned up to 600 calories, worked up some serious sweat and boosted your mood.
p.s. First class is FREE!
