We’re in the holiday home stretch! For some reason it feels bittersweet for Christmas to finally be here. Often I feel like the preparation can take away from the magic, and I look forward to taking a breath and enjoying the finale of the season over the next two days. With that said, I wanted to share a fun twist on Christmas dinner that I encourage you to try with your family. Personally, I’m a Pescatarian, meaning I refrain from meat, but do eat seafood so I’m always on the hunt for a creative dish and this year I found 15 fantastic recipes so I wanted to pass along to you, my friends!
It all started with a gift from Blue North Fisheries and Town & Country Markets. They just introduced the first Humane Harvest line caught Pacific cod for consumers to buy. The benefit is better tasting, longer lasting, healthier and more responsible product.
The Humane Harvest InitiativeTM marks the new standard in sustainable, healthy seafood and an opportunity for retailers to offer customers the highest quality, best tasting product. A fillet caught with the safety of the fisherman in mind, harvested in a manner that reduces stress to the fish, increasing the nutritional value, and with intentional practices that protect our oceans.
As we saw in the USDA’s 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, average seafood intake is below the recommendation across the board for all age-sex groups. What better way to increase the lean protein on your plate than easy-to-cook, better for you and better tasting Humane Harvest line-caught Pacific cod?
I picked up a few Blue North filets from Central Market in Mill Creek, WA and after an evening of drooling over Pinterest, I narrowed it down to 15 dishes that are definitely Christmas-worthy!
