Today I’m getting very real with you and sharing before and after photos of my experience with Botox.
I’m 35, have a history of way too much sun exposure and poor skin elasticity thanks to genetics – therefore, I was a great candidate and, to be honest, something I’ve contemplated for a few years.
Through my teens and twenties the idea of using different products for day, night or even sunblock on a regular basis seemed absurd. Did I think I was invincible? No, but in reality, most of us aren’t concerned with aging until it really happens. And I swear once I turned 30, it happened. I started to notice those dreaded crow’s feet by my eyes, fine lines on my forehead (especially on a sunny day!), and just an overall change in my skin texture. And to be quite frank, makeup just didn’t cut it – I couldn’t cover up those impending wrinkles and furrow between my brows.
Yes, I agree with aging gracefully, but I also agree with feeling really good about yourself. There’s a myriad of things we do on a daily basis to improve our appearance, and I chose to include Botox, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It was effective, easy and something I highly recommend.
I had the opportunity of consulting with Kim Thompson, ARNP at the SkinSpirit Skincare Clinic and Spa in Bellevue, WA. She walked me through the process, discussed my concerns and developed a plan to combat them via Botox.
The actual Botox injection took less than 10 minutes and felt similar to a tiny bee sting. Slightly uncomfortable for maybe a second or two, otherwise very little discomfort. Afterwards you may experience a small bump (similar to a hive) for a few hours and/or minimal bruising. Most often it’s completely unnoticeable, making it a popular ‘lunchtime’ service. I received injections between my brows, on my forehead and next to my eyes.
Okay, so here’s what you came for – the before and after. First of all, let me premise I’m wearing minimal makeup, and did not photoshop or alter these images in any way so you can see the true results.
Photos on left are BEFORE and photos on right are AFTER (2 weeks post-Botox). I’m literally making the exact same expression in each side-by-side photo, but you can see the difference (aka way less lines!).
What is BOTOX Cosmetic?
FDA–approved for cosmetic use, BOTOX Cosmetic is a safe and effective treatment for the temporary smoothing of crow’s feet, forehead lines and furrows between the brows. We also offer advanced treatments for hyperhydrosis, brow lifts and facial contouring.
How it works:
BOTOX Cosmetic works beneath the skin’s surface and targets the underlying muscle activity that causes frown lines and crow’s feet. Botox works to smooth wrinkles by weakening the underlying muscles to create a more youthful, vibrant appearance.
The results from this treatment can last up to four months. Please ask one of our medical practitioners how combination therapy with BOTOX Cosmetic can make fillers last longer and enhance results further.
I had an incredibly positive experience with SkinSpirit in Bellevue, and I know from their reputation, I’m not the only one. They are a top destination for aesthetic skin and body care and the #1 provider of BOTOX® Cosmetic, Juvéderm and SkinMedica skincare products nationwide.
Located in Bellevue Square, in addition to BOTOX® Cosmetic, they also offer Dermal Filler, Microdermabrasion, Physician Designed Facials, Chemical Peels and Medical Grade Skincare Products.
