Remember that 6 Week Challenge I started? Yeah that was 11 (!!!) weeks ago and I am on a roll! I have successfully tried a new fitness class, style or gym every single week (some weeks I even tried more than one!) and I am officially obsessed with EVERYTHING! I had no idea how hard I would fall for fitness. I strongly urge you to try something new, especially if you are in a funk or plateau…it completely reenergizes you, making you excited to workout!
A few weeks ago, via ClassPass, I found bootybarre at Mukilteo Fitness Bar AND…it…was…AWESOME! A killer workout that lives up to it’s ‘booty’ name, incorporating strength, flexibility and cardio while having so much fun.
Founded in 2009 by celebrity trainer, Tracey Mallett, bootybarre is a fusion of Dance, Yoga & Pilates. It’s all about a strong core, lengthening, toning and whole-body sculpting. First of all, anything that involves ‘Dance’ I’m in – the music was perfect to keep you engaged, yet slightly distracted from the intense work that was going on.
Bootybarre utilizes a ballet barre, sponge ball and resistance cuffs (loved these!). The standing and floor work incorporated a variety of pilates/ballet style moves and all felt challenging, yet empowering when achieved. I loved that it was a fairly small class so the instructor/owner of the studio, Laurie, was able to guide as needed. I must note she is in fantastic shape and is incredibly nice – I felt very confident in her expertise and she led the class in an easy to follow, energetic manner.
Mukilteo Fitness Bar is a brilliant studio that offers an array of unique classes besides bootybarre, including Indo-Row, Surfset, TRX, Kettle Bell & Box, Cycling, Yoga & PiYo. I am extremely eager to hit the virtual waves and try Surfset…very soon!
