Adalyn, my first baby girl, is celebrating her 7th birthday on August 30th so to kick off her birthday month we decided to do a little cake tasting and my favorite part – I didn’t have to make it! I honestly would LOVE to be your favorite ‘Pinterest Perfect’ mom, making everything from scratch…but that’s not my reality and I’m going to assume it’s not yours either. Life is busy and who has time for that?! So, thanks to a new partnership, it was suggested I Ask For Whipped at my local grocery store bakery to try a Whipped Icing that is not only light and fluffy but way better for you than heavy buttercream icing.
I did a little research and discovered Fred Meyer, QFC, Kroger, Walmart and Safeway (among many other grocery bakeries) carry Whipped Icing in a ton of flavors including Birthday Party, Mint Chip, S’mores, Sea Salt Caramel, etc. (there are 13 total flavor options, however each bakery varies with availability so I recommend you call ahead). We opted for Strawberry and Naturally Flavored Lemon at our local Safeway.
We ordered a small layer cake, which easily feeds 8-10 guests, with the Whipped Icing and asked for a classic ribbon-style design. The baker had it ready the very next day…and it was absolutely perfect…for only $11.99!
To provide a full review, we obviously had to dig in, and I can now officially confirm it tasted better than we even imagined. Light, fresh and smooth – just sweet enough but not overbearing. Plus it has less sugar and fewer calories than traditional buttercream icing (#momwin)!
For your next party make sure to Ask For Whipped at your local grocery store bakery!
