Whatever your flavor – fitness, beauty, wine – there’s a box for it. Box Subscriptions hit an all-time high in 2015 – and with good reason. People love surprises. People love gifts. So naturally, receiving these boxes full of eclectic, yet carefully curated goodies is like having Christmas every single month.
I’ve tried a few varieties including Rocksbox (jewelry), Kiwi Crate (kid’s educational), and my recent fave as you may have already read about here, is Rain City Box, a subscription featuring local PNW businesses.
So what’s the big deal you ask? Oh let me tell you…
- Box subscriptions are the perfect gift to give. There is a box literally for every niche. Whether your friend is a beauty maven or fit-food junkie, there is a box she would love. No longer will you ponder what to get ‘the girl that has everything,’ because I guarantee she doesn’t have most of the items that come in these box collectives.
- Box subscriptions are the perfect gift for YOU. Most are really inexpensive, like the Rain City Box which is only $34.99. This totally justifies a monthly treat for yourself. Plus it’s a great way to try new products and learn about brands maybe not available in your typical department store.
- Box subscriptions will save you time. Probably the #1 reason they have become so popular is the convenience of door delivery. Let’s face it, there is never enough time to get it all done, so having anything delivered to your door is way better than having to trek to the mall (especially if you have a toddler like me!).
- Box subscriptions spark creativity. I have a bin where I keep items from the boxes that I know would make great gifts for friends or family. When an occasion comes up like a birthday, anniversary, or needing a last minute hostess gift, I reach for the bin and create a gift from one of the items. I added some yummy tea packets to the Rain Cloud Mug (October’s Rain City Box) and my daughter gifted to her Kindergarten teacher – voila!
I love Rain City Box because every month has a new theme. December was the Holiday Gift Box, which included items that would be great for party season!
The box featured goodies which made great gifts and easy last minute appetizers:
- Olympic Provisions Salami (Portland, OR)
- BungalowBoo Upcycled Bamboo Cutting Board customized with the Rain City Box logo (Vancouver, WA & Wichita, KS)
- Walls Walla Sweet Onion Crackers by Partners (Kent, WA)
- Artisan Cheese by Mt. Townsend Creamery (Port Townsend, WA)
- Smoked Salmon by Seabear (Anacortes, WA)
Whether you’re from the Northwest or have an interest in the beautiful West Coast – I definitely recommend Rain City Box!
- $34.99/Month with Subscription ($32/Month for 3 Months or $29/Month for 6 Months)
- You can cancel anytime
- 10% of profits are donated to charity
- Rain City Box also has a ‘shop’ on their website where select items from current or past boxes are available for purchase

Question: Which item was your favorite from this month’s Rain City Box?
Disclosure: Rain City Box graciously provided me with a month subscription to try and review. The opinions expressed here represent my own, which I take great pride in providing pure honesty…because I’m OBSESSED with sharing the Good!
