In today’s post I’m sharing 10 Super Easy Tips To Maintain Your Hair While Traveling that I have found at https://www.nubobeauty.com since the struggle can definitely be real…

Between the heat, humidity and chlorine on our recent trip to Marco Island I realized what worked and most importantly, what didn’t work, to maintain my hair for 5 days in a new climate.
So I thought I would share with you…to save you time and frustration!
Wash Hair Day Before Trip
If you’re one to go several days without washing your hair – it makes sense to wash your hair the day of or day before your trip (depending on your flight). Gives you a few days of get-up-and-go mornings without spending an hour (or two) primping.
Hair Mask
I recommend using a hair mask before you leave and one during the trip to lock in moisture and combat drying elements (sun, pool, salt water, airplanes, etc.). You can find travel packs at Fred Meyer or QFC!
Accessories
Nothing conceals a bad hair day like a hat or scarf. If you’re on day 5 of dirty hair or just not feeling it, throw on a hat and call it a day. Plus it protects your face from harmful UV rays! I always pack at least one.
Braids
I’ll admit, I didn’t learn to french or fish tail braid until just a few years ago. But, it is one of the best ways to maintain your hair – especially in warm climates. And it’s the perfect beach style that looks way harder than it is. Still learning? Just check out a couple YouTube tutorials and you’ll have it down in no time.
Avoid Getting Hair Wet In Pools or Salt Water
Okay…so this one might sound ridiculous. BUT if you can manage to just throw your hair up and enjoy from the neck down, it will save re-styling your hair AND the drying effects from the chlorine and salt. Also if you have blonde hair (naturally or dyed), there’s a likely chance it will discolor with a green tint (I know from experience).
Leave-In Conditioner
If you absolutely must dunk your head in the water, my daughter’s swim teacher gave us the best tip – before getting into the pool, do a quick rinse in the shower and add a hefty amount of leave-in conditioner to your hair to avoid chlorine absorption. And it makes for a silky smooth wash after you get out!
Dry Shampoo
My hair tends to dry out the dirtier it gets, however, if you’re on the oily side, dry shampoo will be your best friend. It will extend your style and keep the volume. You can find travel sizes at Fred Meyer or QFC!
Hairties
I always pick up a new pack of ‘no damage’ or ‘ouchless’ hair ties for every trip. You can find them in blonde, brown or black to match your hair shade, as well. These are a life savor to always have on hand.
Never Bring A Hairdryer
Always leave the hairdryer at home. Most hotels (even hostels) should have one available in your room or to borrow from the front desk. It would be a waste of valuable shoe space in your luggage! If you’re feeling the au natural look, consider skipping the dryer altogether – I’m sure your locks will appreciate a break!
Hydrating Conditioner
If I had to suggest bringing just one haircare item on your trip, it would be a hydrating conditioner. I love Maui Moisture Heal & Hydrate Shea Butter Conditioner from Fred Meyer. Made with coconut and macadamia oils, it will make a world of difference when you wash your hair mid-trip (or daily if you’re swimming!).

Stop by Fred Meyer or QFC to grab the products I mentioned above! Now tell me…did I miss anything? What are your travel haircare hacks?
